Serbian Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Study Reveals Positive Results for Brain Trauma

The Slavica BioChem division of Hard to Treat Diseases, Inc. (HTDS) recently presented results from their hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) chamber study for treatment of traumatic brain injury. The positive results were presented to the 8th World Congress on the Brain Injury in Washington, DC in March, put on by the International Brain Injury Association. The gathering is the largest of its kind in the world. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain caused by trauma (e.g., fall, sports injury, car accident, surgery, etc.) or from a loss of oxygen (e.g., suffocation or drowning). Hyperbaric chamber may treat traumatic brain injury

The Defense Department hopes to find a better treatment for the 100,000 troops who have been diagnosed with mild traumatic brain injury since 2003, and it's looking at hyperbaric chambers — often used in cases of carbon monoxide poisoning — for the answer.

Although there have been studies looking at the impact these pressurized oxygen chambers have on TBI patients, none has been able to definitively answer whether hyperbaric oxygen can reduce or eliminate chronic symptoms of TBI such as headaches, memory loss and mood swings. A new clinical trial, which is expected to begin in January 2011, is designed to do just that. More

Controlling impulses and desires and being patient.

Members of the NBIF met to discuss future plans, meeting our mission to grow, moving into a new location to meet our need...as we continue to grow.

Important to this discussion was the positive collaborations we have made over the past few years and the desire to nurture these connections, joining with others to advocate for choice, equality, and independence in our lives.

Informing the group of the efforts of the KCAC in the past several months, of who and what this kind of advocacy represents ~ and will mean now and in the future, inspired members of the NBIF to want to join their voices in unison and support of, for, and with others that have joined the coalition.
