The mandala ritual at the college is part of the Gaden Shartse Sacred Earth & Healing Arts Tour. Tuesday was the second day of the three-day event, and the monks will continue working from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today. Read On

The celebration will host a walk and stroll tour and the NBIF is one of the stops on the map. We are so excited to have The Steve Serviss Band play at our location (726 Washington St, Utica NY 13502, 5:00-7:00pm). Please Meet NBIF’s Friend David Listowski (Café Plus Syracuse, NY)

Cafe Plus opened in 1996 as a place for head-injured survivors in the Central New York area to relax, do some meaningful activities, and have a good time with others. Too often, survivors feel isolated and left out of society after being seriously injured in car wrecks, falls, industrial accidents, sports mishaps, or assaults, then spending months or even years in recovery. As a result, many head-injured survivors experience a loss of identity and lowered self-esteem.

The purpose of this coffee shop is to help people combat feelings of isolation and assist them in re-connecting socially and make friendships. The people in the Central New York area have responded with over 5000 visitors and about 15 to 20 or so people coming each week.

Serbian Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Study Reveals Positive Results for Brain Trauma

The Slavica BioChem division of Hard to Treat Diseases, Inc. (HTDS) recently presented results from their hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) chamber study for treatment of traumatic brain injury. The positive results were presented to the 8th World Congress on the Brain Injury in Washington, DC in March, put on by the International Brain Injury Association. The gathering is the largest of its kind in the world. This year’s meeting was the most heavily attended ever, featuring therapists, social workers, medical professionals, psychologists, and researchers from all over the world, a PR Newswire article reported. The Facts About Traumatic Brain Injury (Part 1)

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain caused by trauma (e.g., fall, sports injury, car accident, surgery, etc.) or from a loss of oxygen (e.g., suffocation or drowning). Often a TBI is not visible, but it may have effects on one’s physical, emotional, mental and social life. Long-term effects often place an enormous emotional and financial strain on the affected and their families.
